TOILET APPEAL

HOW YOU CAN HELP

FAQs

Time is running out to meet our fundraising target of £23,000 to upgrade the disabled facilities at our Ilkley venue - we need your help to get us there!

Moor Time has until February 2027 to raise the full amount. We're half way there, thanks to the amazing efforts of our supporters, families, staff and volunteers. But we need all the support we can get to reach the target over the next few months.

  • Arrange a fundraising event - email hello@moortime.org.uk and we will support you all we can with leaflets, banners, collection boxes and posters

  • Share information about the toilet appeal on social media - email us if you'd like more info!

Where will the work take place?

At the venue we rent in the major school holidays for our special needs holiday club - Ben Rhydding Scout and Guide HQ, Wheatley Lane, Ilkley. This is a super venue for us in many ways as it provides secure outside play space, level wheelchair access, different rooms for a range of activities, and parking.

What will the appeal pay for?

The money will pay for adaptations to the building to increase the size of the disabled toilet, so there will be adequate space for our full-size change table and hoist.

Why is the work needed?

We currently can't accommodate young people who require a hoist and change table for toileting for full days at our holiday club. They can only drop in briefly before needing to go home for a change. This leaves parents and carers who transport their young person from a distance hanging around waiting in Ilkley for a call, rather than enjoying the respite that the club should provide to the full.

As you can imagine this is really frustrating for everyone, as we run nurse-led sessions that would be ideal for these young people to attend for a whole day. They are some of the most potentially isolated young people who come to us in the holidays, so they would really benefit from the opportunity to stay for full days and join in the fun with their friends.

Why not find a venue that is already adapted?

We have looked extensively at other venues for short term rent in the Ilkley and Keighley areas and there is nowhere suitable that is available in the holidays.

We have the kind support of the local Scout Association, the owners of the building, to upgrade the toilets and to raise money to do so. We have a long lease to rent the building in the holidays and our funding for running costs is secure, so we can be certain that holiday club sessions will go ahead.

Thank you to the National Lottery Community Fund and lottery players for their generous support.
